Our Founder

Our Founder, Rebecca Ohlwein, has always been passionate about volunteering and giving back to not only her community but around the world. When she was 6, she remembers picking extra tags off a wall at her elementary school to buy the items on them for less fortunate children for the holidays. When she was 12, she held a canned food drive for the local food bank and donated a portion of her Bat Mitzvah money to feed children at a school in Tanzania for a month. When she was 19, she spent her Monday nights going downtown near her college campus to feed the homeless. When she was 26 and bought her first home, she started finding nonprofits in her area to volunteer at. With a handful of local and national organizations in her vicinity, she found herself volunteering her time several days a week. At 28, she knew she wanted to do more but felt she had surpassed her time at becoming an influencer. Thus, the idea came to work with those already highly influential and share with them the day-to-day life of a volunteer. Her marketing background came together with her passion for volunteerism and she launched Stars & Hype.
